Tukino 2026
Third year
9. - 11. 10. 2026
The Tu a kino Festival , the first Roma film festival in the Czech Republic, was originally planned as a biennial event. However, following the strong positive response to the inaugural edition in 2024, we decided to continue annually.
This year, starting on Friday, October 9, 2026, we will meet again at the Television Institute in Brno! The detailed 2026 program is currently in preparation.
The Romani Film Festival Tukino returns in 2026 for its third edition in a three-day event. This year’s theme, “Film as a Tool for Understanding,” reflects the festival’s ongoing commitment to dialogue, inclusion, and the power of storytelling to bridge divides.
From Friday through Sunday, Tukino will showcase outstanding works by Romani filmmakers, with a special focus on voices from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
This year we will focus on five sections
-
School Programme
-
Short Films
-
Talent
-
Visibility Award presentations to awarded projects and actors
-
Archive / Memory
Each will offer strong works that combine not only visual and content quality, but also the courage to tell a different story.
Tukino will also present lesser-known films by non-Roma authors that deal with Roma culture or history with respect and a sense of context.
We deliberately avoid stereotypes and social pathos. We are not interested in “Roma themes” from the outside – but the Roma perspective from the inside. Instead of social diagnoses, we give space to real creation.
Films you won't see anywhere else. Creators you want to hear.
